What were you Expecting?

[Throwing my body on the trampled ground.]
"Ok, move your left hand over to the left a smiggggin."
"Perfecto! Chin like we talked about...."
"That's right, WORK IT GIRL.!!!"

Welcome to the next two hours of your life, where I make a fool of myself and make you look stunning. If you are lucky enough to have me for your wedding, well, then you get a full days worth of this class act! Yes, I am ridiculous and yes, I know it. I am here to guide you in the process, to make sure that your photos turn out stunning, and to make this an unforgettable experience. No, you aren't going to have to pose yourself silly. And yes, I will look like I'm a few fries short of a happy meal, but everybody enjoys the ride.
Getting professional photos done is not a daily, weekly, or even monthly habit for brides, couples, or individuals, so the nerves and what to expect always creeps up in people's minds. So here are ten simple inside statements to ease your mind.

1. I won't make you choose how you want to pose for the photos. I am here to guide you and make   sure every finger and hair is in place (Wheeewwww! Glad we got that one out in the open!).

2. I will make fun of myself and call you out if you are picking your nose ;)

3. I will keep us on schedule and make sure we don't miss out on any "must haves" of the day.

4. I am ALWAYS open to your suggestions. After all, it is all about you!

5. I will make you laugh and act a fool.

6. You will have to pretend that I'm funny.

7. You will enjoy every moment of this 'not so regular' experience.

8. We will be best friends by the end of the shoot. I hope you are ok with that.

9. I will tell you "I lied... one more..." one too many times. (I just get so excited and want to do more!)

10. You will walk away feeling like one million AND ONE dollars.

Monday Mayhem I Narrative

One of the things I love so much about the reception portion of wedding is the dancing. Not just the electric slide and YMCA, but what lies in between. People get this courage to step out and just be comfortable in their own skin. My favorite in particular are the grandmas getting down on the dance floor. I could just sit and watch them all night. It is on this special occasion that you get to watch grandparents do something out of the normalcy of life, dance. They are so happy move-in and a groovin' to the beat of the music and just truly enjoy what the evening holds. Take  a look at these images from this weekends wedding and tell me they don't make you smile as least just a little bit.

All I have to say is that I hope I am that grandma! I want to put on my dancin' shoes and enjoy the night. I hope you aspire to do the same :)

Happy Monday!

Wedding Photography I Review

I work with the best people, did you know that? I somehow get the sweetest brides and most gracious grooms. To give a review such as this is not the norm. It really was the sweetest review or written statement I have ever received. Amanda was my first wedding solo. She had faith in me that I didn’t have in myself. Thank you Amanda, for your kind words.

Reminiscing I Wedding Photography

Well we have almost made  it to February! I will say, now living in sunny Florida, making it to February from November isn't nearly as painful. With spring on it's way though, that means WEDDING SEASON! First of all, as a friend, it brings great excitement in that I get to see some of my very best friends for the weekend and celebrate together. As a photographer it brings a whole new kind of jitters, excitement, and pure joy. This year I have the privilege of shooting THREE weddings! I am willing to go anywhere a bride wants me! In that, I have been reminiscing through the first wedding I did last year. My stomach fills with butterflies and I find myself wishing it was May already so that the fun could begin! Here are a few images that have been filling my eyes as I anxiously await the wedding season of 2012!

Ahhhhhh.... Weddings. They just fill my heart. To see a more full collection of this happy day click HERE. I am excited for what is ahead. Since I am a Tampa Photographer now, the next thing on my bucket list is a beach wedding. Who will be the first!? I hope you are just as excited for wedding season  as I am.
If you are interested in booking a wedding (or portrait session) feel free to e-mail me at kortni.photo@gmail.com and I will happily do what I can.
Enjoy this start to the week and remember, spring is just around the corner!
