I got creative this year in giving Christmas gifts; homemade or personalized or both! For my sister this year I made her a special piece that 'screams' that it is her! A colorful splash personalized to make it extra special.
Such a simple, yet beautiful gift.
Supplies:
11 X 14 Canvas
Box of 48 Crayola crayons (they melt better than the off brand)
Decal pieces
Painters Tape
Hot glue gun & glue
Hair Dryer
Directions:
Use painters tape to make initials/ design that you wish to be at the center of your canvas. This is optional, but thought it brought a personal touch. Next, remove the wrapping from the crayons to help with the melting and allows for a better presentation. Stage the crayons spaced as you wish across the canvas. Carefully begin to glue the crayons onto the canvas as you had previously staged. Warning! The crayons will melt due to the high temperature of the glue gun so work fast and make sure you are doing this on a surface that is appropriate. Once the crayons are glued as needed create an outside space for melting. You may need an extension cord for your hair dryer depending on what space is available to use. The melting of the crayons will make a mess, so beware. When the area is prepped appropriately, start to melt! This is the fun part. Hold the blow dryer around 3 inches from the crayons and let the crayons melt to your liking. Move from crayon to crayon on your canvas as needed. Finally, let it dry in full and enjoy your homemade piece of art!
Hope you enjoyed!

Ross Family I Portrait
A family coming together for the holidays is one of the most valued times of the year. Cousins are reunited, mothers welcome their daughters with hugs, and laughter is heard all around. The Ross family had the opportunity to spend time together this Christmas season in Indiana. While they are scattered among many states and cities, they took a time out from 'normal' life to make memories and share a special time together.
Enjoy a few photographs of these special families taken during this very special time of year.

Ross Family I Coming Soon
I had the privilege of spending some time with the Ross family the very afternoon I landed in chilly Indianapolis from the not so chilly Tampa, Florida. We completed a large family portrait as well as individual family portraits. Be looking back for a completed view of our session together. Until then, Merry Christmas!

Decor I Craft
Last week I took the time to be a little crafty & it was wonderful. I love creating. I have had the idea and supplies to accomplish all of this for quite some time, but hadn't found the time to start. Motivation kicked in and the product is now complete!
Isn't it beautiful? I truly do love how it has turned out. I have debated painting the tips of the flowers. Let me know your opinion.
It was a simple project. I found a Crate and Barrel original vase with the tag still on it from Salvation Army for $1.50, a bag of small foam balls and small dowel rods from Michaels, and your standard box of Q-tip brand Q-tips (so the stick is not plastic). That's it!
Starting off, the Q-tips need to be cut in half. No need to be crazy with the exact measurement, it won't matter. Simply eyeball the middle and cut away. After a nice pile has built up you can start sticking the half Q-tips in to the middle of the foam ball. Follow the circular motion of the ball and make one complete circle of Q-tips around the foam ball. When you have made your way back to the start, simply start the next row. You can place the Q-tips as close or far away from each other as you desire. I made two of the three more compact and full and let one be more air-y simply for variation purposes, but that's your call! When you have completely filled a foam ball with Q-tips, you may place your small dowel rod at one end to create your stem.

Such a simple project that adds a unique touch to your home. It is both inexpensive and a one of a kind decorative piece to display at your home. You won't get the "did you get this at Target?" question when people walk though your front door. So take the time to create and add special touches to your home.-km

Rylee Raine I Coming Soon
I was so grateful to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with family despite being a thousand miles away from my parents and siblings for the first time over the holiday. I continue to be blessed and amazed at the love that surrounds me. Five days in Gulf Shores, Alabama with my dad's brother's family was where I spent my Thanksgiving this year.
Over this holiday I had the pleasure of meeting the newest addition to the Fennig family, Rylee Raine. Just three weeks old and precious written all over her! We took the time to do a mini shoot of Raine and a few with her BIG sister, Laura Cate. Here is a sneak peak view of one photo of the two girls just beginning their life long friendship together.
Enjoy! And look for more to come!
