One Year Later

Oh happy day! This weekend marks the first anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Stang. Let me introduce you to Matt and Amanda Stang. I met Amanda while attending Anderson University and Matt, her high school sweet heart. Now, one year of marriage down and 50+ more to go! Congrats you two!

Matt and Amanda are a special couple to me, they took a risk with me and jumped with both feet forward. Matt and Amanda were the first wedding I photographed just one short year ago. I still believe to this day that Amanda believed in me more than I did myself on that September day. Shaking in my boots and drenched in sweat from the hot summer heat, I shot my first wedding in Norwalk, Ohio and at that moment fell in love with wedding photography (if I hadn't already...). I made it through the day in one piece and came out with some wonderful images of the groom and his beautiful bride. To this day I thank the Lord for giving Amanda confidence in me that I could never find in myself.

So, to the happy couple and many more years of love and laughter to come! I love you and am thankful for you daily.
Take a look at the Stang's Wedding day and the beauty it was just one short year ago.

Since that day, I have shot two more weddings, the Kennedy Wedding and the Riddle Wedding, and have a third coming up on the 1st of December. I am looking forward to 2013 and what weddings I might have the honor to be a part of. Feel free to contact me or check me out on Facebook if you are interested or have any questions! I look forward to hearing from you.

Until next time...

DIY I Wall Decor

I have been preparing for this wall since the day we moved in. The preparation and anticipation was almost killing me, then... the day came... hanging day. As many can validate, I was pretty freaking psyched about it!

Empty frames I had been gathering from garage sales, Goodwill, random neighbors, and my old collection, painted the grey of my newly finished dressers (listed in my last DIY blog) completed the wall above my bed. The ceilings look taller than ever and you eyes just light up when you take a peek into my bedroom.

A dear friend and talented artist, Annmarie (owner of Phos Design) was the helping hand that put this DIY into reality. She could also give you a deep meaning of why she believes that this open frame wall is perfect for me, my personality, and just the way I function... you should ask her some time...
WARNING: This is not a single man job, a minimum of two people is needed.
WE DID IT!
Success at its finest.
At the close we pulled up chairs and just took in the awe of our hard work. The view was glorious.
Thanks to a great friend who helped make this image in my head a reality of a DIY. Thank you Annmarie!

Until next time

Monday Mayhem I Narrative

Or is it really Mayhem????

I flew out of the great city of Tampa on Friday and the weather was all sunshine and summer time to be a guest at the most beautiful wedding and spend time with some of the most amazing people this world has to offer.

In the back of my head was "this terrible storm that is going to sweep over Tampa starting Sunday night.!" In the meantime, I had a flight that wasn't schedule to put me safely on the ground in Tampa until 10:38pm...

Through the panic of possibly making Atlanta my home for the night, I made it back to Tampa, safe and sound AND on time... to a little spit of rain and sunshine on Monday...

Dramatic much? And now we march forward and look forward to a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Happy Monday all (and I am jealous if you are a student that got classes canceled or an employee of a company that told you to stay home..)!

Priceless Adventure

The beach is our "go to spot." That is where the Fennigs feel comfortable and at peace, but this year for family vacation we flipped normalcy upside down. We chose places we had never been to and narrowed it down to a state, Colorado. A mountainous view that Indiana or Florida do not hold. A grand adventure was ahead with spontaneity and flying by the seat of our pants. And oh boy was it worth it!

The morning after the Kennedy Wedding, I left with my family to catch a flight, head to Denver, and hit the ground running!

First stop, BOULDER, COLORADO...

We were in awe of the view from the second we hit the road. After the view, fooooood! We stopped at one of the most amazing pizza places that makes Colorado famous for their pizzas, Beau Jo's. I highly recommend the stop if you haven't been there already.

Next stop, ESTES PARK...

The view was breath taking as we made our way through the mountains. We stopped at nearly every pull off to just absorb God's master piece. If I didn't already know what a phenomenal artist He was, it was all made clear in these miles of mountainous views.
We met some friends along the way that wanted to play.
We stayed in the Rocky Mountains and took time to explore its splendor from miles up in the sky. We decided as a collective whole that some of our greatest memories of the trip were our completely spontaneous moments. We climbed an hour up into the rocks that were remnents of the flood of the Big Thompson River in 1976 followed by a ride up to Trail Ridge Road through the winding roads of the park.
Made another friend along the way...
Hiking trip through the Rocky Mountains...

Third stop, VAIL...

And I wanted to move into this house immediately... shocking, I know...

Final stop, COLORADO SPRINGS...

Horse back riding through the Garden of the Gods.

Eating at the Elephant bar (from the suggestion of a great friend), I had some of the best food of my life and had a wonderful end to a very memorable vacation.
On our final morning of vacation we took the trip on the COG to the top of Pikes Peak. It was freeeeeeeezing!
 Our sweet Pikes Peak hats.
What a vacation it was! I even got to squeeze in a dinner date with a wonderful friend who currently resides in Colorado Springs. It was a wonderful week spent traveling around the state taking in the beauty and the experiences I had the pleasure to share with my family. These are the moments where I want to throw in the Master Card commercial. The flights ($$$), the Hotels ($$$), the activities ($$$), but all of that creates a priceless experience that I will remember and cherish (and probably be the annoying mom someday that tells the story of the time I went horse back riding through the Garden of the Gods one to many times to my kid'os).

Thank you for a wonderful vacation. These photos contain more than a thousand words each and I have many many many more that I couldn't squeeze into a blog post, but let me tell you, God is BIG, God is an amazing ARTIST, and God has given me the BEST family any one could ask for.
